Introducing Collide
Get ready for an explosion on the chamber music scene! Collide is a progressive Contemporary music ensemble ripe to take the world by storm. Their sound pulls from a variety of cultures featuring original music by the group's members and commissioned works by young composers from various ethnic backgrounds. The group aims to use their instruments in conventional and unconventional ways and also creates new instruments from found objects. Collide is poised to shake up the Classical world while making a mark on the younger MTV generation. The eclectic trio consists of Jade Simmons on piano, virtuoso percussionist David Skidmore and highly imaginative saxophonist Jonathan Sanford. All three are graduates of Northwestern University’s School of Music where they were directors of Boomshaka, a Chicago-based percussion and dance ensemble co-founded by Simmons.
